In a world full of the pressure of perfection, achievement and the kind of flawless life that only actually exists on social media, remember one thing. Just be you.

Sounds like the simplest thing in the world to be, right? But we can be so busy analysing, overthinking, comparing, being negative, complaining and thinking that everyone else is doing just that little bit better than us, that we miss a hell of a lot that’s right in front of our eyes.

Accept where you are. You are there for a reason. Believe in yourself and believe in your dreams. You can achieve them. Be positive, and when you can’t? Understand what you can take from that situation that will help you in the future. Learn from mistakes and don’t be afraid to make them. But above all, just be you.

Why do we care so much about our age? Probably because we’re always bombarded with articles insisting what we should and shouldn’t be doing once we cross the lines of those milestone birthdays… but all this really does is create an idea that there is a right and a wrong time to be doing something, based purely on how long we’ve been standing on this planet.

I have so many clients telling me that they think they can’t do something, or will be judged if they try and do something, simply because of their age. They either think they’re too young and no-one will take them seriously, or too old…and no-one will take them seriously!

Point is…the only right time is when you are ready to do something. You are never too old to start a new dream, you are never too young to give it a go. If you’re ready…. just do it. Just stop worrying about your age.

Do you find yourself apologising all of the time?

Do you find yourself apologising all of the time? You forget to call your friend back - I’m sorry. You bump into a stranger in the shops - I’m sorry (even you’re not really sure who bumped into who). Your food order is wrong - yup, you know it….I’M sorry, but this isn’t what I asked for.

WHY do we do this?

Well firstly, if you’re a woman, you’ll be much more likely to suffer from the never ending ‘I’m sorry’ cycle but secondly, you’re probably unaware that you even do. Being more self aware of your language is a good thing to start looking at: make a log for a week of how many times you apologise for something and I’ll bet you’ll be pretty surprised. If you do see that you’re one of life’s ‘over-apologisers’, try swapping out your language for something like:

>> I’m sorry I’m late = Thank you for waiting
>> Sorry, I didn’t catch that? = Could you please repeat that?
>> Sorry, I can’t make it = Unfortunately I won’t be able to come

Try that for a week or 2 and see what a difference you’ll feel in not only your positivity levels, but also in your confidence.
